Learn About Leucine
Leucine is among the Branch Chain Amino Acid (BCAAs) complex in the Max Effort Muscle Post Workout Supplement. It has been well researched that supplementation with leucine and the other BCAAs post workout aid in the muscular recovery process. With regard to leucine as a standalone amino acid, new research has been published suggesting its ergogenic effects on muscle.
Leucine works by activating the mTOR pathway. The mTOR acts as the primary regulator of cell growth and production. This pathway, when inhibited leads to a decrease in cellular potential for energy production. The activation of this pathway enables the body to ramp up its ability to synthesize protein in the muscle. This means your body can become better at using the protein you consume to build muscle rather than it sitting dormant in your body eventually being repurposed.
In addition to aiding in recovery it has been shown to increase the maximal contractile force of muscle. Your muscles can generate more force when supplementing with leucine or a compound containing leucine (Max Effort Post) allowing you to lift more weight and get more out of each rep! The increase in contractile force is a result of an increase in the number of motor units/muscle fibers being recruited to complete the exercise. The more muscle fibers that are used translates into the more muscle fibers that are breakdown. The more that are broken down means the more the they have to grow in order to adapt.
