Creatine AKG is a creatine molecule that is bonded to alpha-ketoglutarate. It is for this reason, alpha-ketoglutarate is commonly found in pre-workout supplements where it is bound to the amino acid arginine, a vital component in the biosynthesis of proteins. When AKG is bound to creatine, as is the case in creatine AKG, the absorption of creatine can significantly increase as well. Alone, creatine is effective at improving muscular endurance. These effects are made even greater when combined with alpha keto-glutarate. Not only that, but alpha-ketoglutarate itself has shown to improve anaerobic power on both a one repetition max bench press and a Wingate peak power performance examination, a maximal effort stationary bike test.
