Welcome back to another episode of Technique Daily with today's host, Cory Gregory!  Cory is going to show you how to improve you Front Squat Grip for a proper and safer way to hold a front squat.  Cory gets a lot of questions from people about having bad wrist flexibility, how do I hold a front squat?  The way that he teaches it in the early stages is come thumb over from the smooth part of the bar and start with two fingers on the bar.  The bar is going to sit on these two fingers keeping your elbows high.  There are a bunch of different mobility techniques that you can do to try an unwind your lats and your triceps to get your elbows up.  The next progression is to put three or four fingers on the bar.  The ultimate goal is to be able to wrap your hands around the bar like the really good olympic lifters do.  If you are a bodybuilder you might have trouble with this because the biceps will prevent you from getting the bend that you need in your elbows.  If you can wrap your hands around the bar in a front squat it gives you the ability to use your lats when you are grinding through a front squat.  The key is to start with the one that works for you and then work towards that next one until you can grip the bar completely.  Give these Front Squat Grip tips a try and let us know what you think!
