Unorthodox Summer Workouts

Summer time is the perfect time to mix things up a little if you feel the the workouts seem stale or the team just needs something different to reinvigorate them.  Now that doesn’t mean you abandon your strength program - but occasionally substituting one of the scheduled workouts for something outside of the box can work wonders for the teams morale and motivation.  Give one of the workouts below a try whenever you want to challenge yourself or your team in a different way.  I have a million of these but here are three of my favorites:

The GutCheck

Complete the following as quickly as possible:

            Circuit: 5 Tire Flips/8 KB Hip Swings/10 DB Shoulder Press/15 Push Ups x 3 rounds

                        1 mile Run

            Circuit: 5 Tire Flips/8 KB Hip Swings/10 DB Shoulder Press/15 Push Ups x 3 rounds

                        1 mile Run

 

Medicine Ball AMRAP

10 Med Ball Suplex

10 Med Ball Slam

10 Med Ball Pass

10 Med Ball Arch

10 Med Ball Sit Ups

10 Med Ball Good Morning

            30 min AMRAP

            *complete as many rounds as possible (AMRAP) of 10 of each exercise.

 

The "Get Peeled"

15 PullUps

20 Push Ups

10 Chin Ups

15 narrow Push Ups

1/4 mile Run 

 x 6 rounds
