The Secret To Clean Eating

Anyone who eats clean long term has a few tricks of the trade to help them stay on track.  Maybe for you its a nightly Max Effort protein shake to satisfy your dessert desire, or you snack on stalks of celery to mimic the crunch of traditional snacks.

My secret?

Yuki.

Yuki is a flavorful blend of onions, hot peppers and garlic in olive oil, and it works as a healthy topping to just about anything - eggs, ground beef, chicken, canned tunaetc.  Yuki’s versatility as a topping is matched only by the diversity of it’s recipe - you can add basically any vegetable (mushrooms, cabbage, zucchini, etc.) to the base recipe and it will still taste amazing.  I’ve been using Yuki for years to kick up the heat and put some flavorful excitement in otherwise bland diet “staples”.  The healthy fats from the olive oil and the nutrients from the veggies are a bonus not found in other condiments.  Here’s the original base recipe, as handed down from my Dad:

Onions - 1-2, diced

Hot Peppers - 3-4 sliced

Garlic - 1-2 cloves per onion

Olive oil - 1/4 cup

Salt - to taste

basil - 1 tablespoon

parsley - 1 tablespoon

Remember there is a ton of variation with this recipe, so feel free to substitute as needed.  Don’t like hot peppers? Then substitute for a bell pepper.  Want more of a tomato flavor?  Add some sundried tomatoes or a 1/2 can of all purpose tomato sauce.  However you decide to make it, keep that big bowl of Yuki handy in the fridge and you’ll be amazed at how much easier it is to stay on track.
