Make the call

One extra phone call can completely change somebody's day, especially when they aren’t expecting it. It shows you care. It shows that you’re thinking about them.

I recently did this with my godfather, King O’Toole. Yep, that’s really his name. He’s in his 90’s, his health has been a bit rough lately, and I don’t see him very often. So, I picked up the phone and gave him a call.

One of the best nuggets of wisdom from King was this: “In my life, I never thought I was better than anyone, but I always thought I was just as good.” Chew on that one for a minute…

This advice applies everywhere

Take this advice and run with in all aspects of your life. It doesn’t matter if it’s economics, money, your career, your relationships, or just in general. It’s important to understand that no one is better than anyone else. That’s what King is trying to convey here.

Some people just thought my godfather was being overconfident or cocky, but that’s not it at all. In reality, he just believed in himself. He truly believed that he was just as good as the next person.

Pick up the phone

That one phone call to my godfather changed his day for the better. Mine too.

Hopefully you’ll take this advice and pick up the phone and call that person you haven’t spoken to in some time. Or maybe you feel like there’s someone you need to call. Whatever it is, you’ll never regret it.
